This is just a quick reminder to our presenters and authors that the paper submission deadline is Saturday, October 31, 2020. Authors should be in contact with their sectional VPs to faciliate submissions. Other author resources that may be helpful can be found on our Instructions – Full Papers page.
Posters and oral presentations need to be submitted here by Monday, Oct. 12th to allow time to upload the presentations to TEAMS.
Due to the continuing COVID-19 pandemic, it’s associated risks for large in-person gatherings, and imposed travel restrictions, the FSHS Board moved the annual meeting to a virtual platform. The length of the meeting was also shortened to two days: October 19 – 20th.
A link to an orientation video will be sent soon with instructions for using TEAMS virtual conference capabilities – so please register soon!
New registration fees for the virtual meeting are:
- Professional Registration — $150
- Student Registration — $90
Note: There are no early or late fees. Because of the virtual format, registration will close at 5 pm on October 15, so be sure to register early!
- On or before September 4 = Full refund less a $20 processing fee
- September 5 through September 18 = 75% refund less a $20 pro- cessing fee
- September 19 through October 9 = 50% refund less a $20 processing fee
- On or After October 10 = No refund
Dear FSHS members:
We would like to thank you for your participation in the society and for attending our annual meeting for the good of the vegetable stakeholders in Florida. As you know, we would have wanted to see you face-to-face but due to the current pandemic our meeting had to be rescheduled to an online format using TEAMS (Further details will be shared in the upcoming days and weeks).
Here are some important announcements to keep in mind for the success of this meeting:
As a Presenter, you need to register at https://fshs.org/meetings/ and encourage others to do so. Although registration runs until October 15th, 2020, it is better to register this in advance.
You will have a total of 15 minutes for Oral Presentation. It is highly recommended you leave some time for questions. Please prepare your presentation and email your power point to me (firstname.lastname@example.org) and to our Chairman Gene McAvoy (email@example.com) not later than October 8th, 2020.
When you submitted your abstract, we asked you to provide the “Author Agreement”. If you have not done so, please email us the author agreement to the editor and myself at firstname.lastname@example.org and email@example.com. Please, let me know if you need a copy of the agreement.
The new Manuscript deadline is now October 31st, 2020. Please email your manuscript to the editor at firstname.lastname@example.org no later than the deadline. Also, kindly let us know if you have an update on the manuscript; for example, if the manuscript has been submitted to one of the American Society of Horticultural Sciences Journals.
The FSHS Vegetable Section needs your help in the upcoming years. Next year our Vegetable Vice-president will be Dr. Lincoln Zotarelli for the 2021 period. During our virtual business meeting, we will be electing our VP for the 2022 period. Please, let me know if you’d like to volunteer or would like to nominate someone for this task.

Note – Members who have already registered for the meeting will be refunded completely and must re-register at the lower fee.
The meeting will be conducted using Microsoft Teams, so if you have a UF email account please use that as your email address. After registering, you will receive a link to use to attend the meeting.
