Passing of FSHS Honorary Member, Dr. Gene Albrigo

It is with great sadness that we bring FSHS members news of the passing of Dr Gene Albrigo.

It is with great sadness that we bring FSHS members news of the passing of Dr Gene Albrigo.

As some of you have heard by now, Dr. Albrigo passed away over the weekend surrounded by his family. We are saddened by this loss and will never forget all the important contributions Dr. Albrigo made in advancing the science of citrus production during his long tenure at the CREC.

Dr. Albrigo was a member and longtime supporter of the Florida State Horticultural Society, and headed our Sponsor program for many years.

Dr. Albrigo, along with Drs. Lukasz Stelinki and Pete Timmer, recently released their updated book, Citrus: Second Edition, published by CABI in 2019 (CABI, Boston, MA). Dr. Albrigo also spearheaded several online decision support systems of great value to citrus growers, such as DISC, and the Citrus Flowering Monitor.

Dr. Albrigo truly made an impact not only on the Florida citrus industry, but also citrus industries around the world. He will be missed and never forgotten for his dedication to the Florida Citrus Industry.

There will be a memorial service for Dr. Albrigo on Friday Feb 21, 2020 from 2-4 PM at Baldwin Brothers Funeral Home, 620 Dunlawton Ave., Port Orange FL 32127. For more information:
